Ingram Micro On The Block, Says Report
Irvine-based technology distributor Ingram Micro is reportedly on the block, with current Chinese owner HNA Group looking to sell Ingram Micro for around $7 billion, according to a report. The deal is reportedly worth around $7 billion, according to Bloomberg. Private equity investor Platinum Equity in advanced talks with HNA Group, per the report. Report: Spaces Acquired By Apple
Los Angeles-based Spaces, which had been developing in-person locations to experience virtual reality, has reportedly been acquired by Apple. A report, from Protocol, said the acquisition came after Spaces announced a shutdown of its services last week. Spaces offered up in-person, virtual reality experiences for theme parks and other retail spaces--which all had been shut down due to the pandemic. Triller In Strategic Alliance With India's JioSaavn
Los Angeles-based TikTok-rival Triller announced on Monday afternoon that it is in a strategic alliance with music streaming service JioSaavn, which it says is India's largest music streaming service. According to Triller, JioSaavn will soon be embedding Triller into its service, automatically showing a Triller music video when a music video is watched within the JioSaavn streamer. Oblong Reports Big Win
Los Angeles-based Oblong, which develops products to help with telepresence and collaboration, says it has scored a major order for its Mezzanine product. Financial details of the win were not announced, however, Oblong said a "multinational branded consumer products company" selected the company's system, and will deploy it across 16 cities in 10 countries. Irvine's Menlo Micro Takes Lead In RF MEMS Switching, Says Report
Irvine-based Menlo Micro, a developer of micro-electro-mechanical (MEMS) devices used for radio frequency switching, has emerged as one of the two leaders in RF MEMS switching, according to a report from the IEEE Spectrum. The company--a spinoff of GE Ventures--reportedly now has 30 customers in aerospace, military, and wireless-infrastructure industries. Rocket Lab Aims At New Mission August 27th
Huntington Beach-based Rocket Lab is hoping to get back into the air, after the failure of a mission in July, saying it now hopes to launch a new commercial mission sometime around August 27th. Rocket Lab saw a launch failure on July 4th, when an electrical connector detached one its Electron rocket, apparently due to thermal expansion and contraction. Rocket Lab has not said what customers will be on that August 27th mission, which wil be out of its New Zealand launch site.

WeRecover Offers Up Digital Assistant For Mental, Behavioral Health
Los Angeles-based WeRecover, a venture backed company that connects consumers with mental and behavioral health resources, said last week that it is in a strategic partnership with CCAPP, the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals. WeRecovers said it will offer up its new "digital assistant" product, Wendi, to CCAPP's members. Connect Biopharma Finds $115M More
San Diego-based Connect Biopharma, which is developing biopharmaceuticals for treating atopic dermatitis and ulerative colitis, has raised $115M in a Series C funding, the company announced Monday morning. According to the company, the round was led by RA Capital Management, and also included Lilly Asia Ventures, Boxer Capital, and HBM Healthcare Investments, plus existing investor Qiming Venture Partners. Happy Money Offers Up Free Wellness Course
Orange County-based Happy Money, which is backed by Anthemis Group, Tencent Holdings and CMFG Ventures, says it is launching a free, 6-week wellness course it calls "Peace". According to Happy Money, the free course uses cognitive behavioral therapy, positive psychology, and psychometrics to help people understand and reduce the impact of financial stress on their lives.
