Tuesday, August 22, 2023Umbra Wins $1.25M SBIRSanta Barbara-based space-based radar imaging provider Umbra announced this morning that it has scored a $1.25M SBIR Phase II contract, with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFWERX). According to the company, the contract is focused on "Space-Based Moving Target Indication (MTI)", which it says is one of the "most pressing challenges" for the US Air Force. Space-based radar technology allows for imaging of objects from space--particularly, things like metal objects--even through clouds.

Massdriver Snags $8M For Cloud Operations SoftwareLos Angeles-based Massdriver, a new startup developing a "visual interface" for cloud ops and software engineering teams working on "cloud-native" applications, says it has raised $8M in a funding round. The funding was led by Builders VC, and also included 1984 Ventures, Y Combinator, Uncorrelated Ventures, Page One Ventures, Soma Capital, Hack VC, as well as un-named angels. Cory O'Daniel is co-founder and CEO of Massdriver.
