Phyn Rolls Out DIY Water Savings, Leak Detection Product

Los Angeles-based Phyn, which develops sophisticated devices that can both detect water leaks and also monitor water usage across a home--through a single device--has rolled out a new product this week, aimed at the do-it-yourself (DIY) market. According to Phyn, its new product, the Phyn Smart Water Assistant, will launch at Best Buy stores in September, and allows users to track how much water each and every fixture in a home uses, providing water monitoring for an entire home. The company's technology is based on tracking pressure changes in water pipes, and is able to pinpoint the water usage of specific fixtures in a home. According to Phyn, the new Phyn Smart Water Assistant will retail for $299, and can be monitored with an iPhone or Android app. There are no subscription costs with the device, which the company claims can be installed without the need for a plumber. The new product just installes to a hot- and cold-water line under any sink in a home. Unlike other devices on the market, Phyn's technology allows for specific pinpointing of how much water showers, sinks, washing machines, irrigation systems, and other systems are using. Phyn is led by CEO Ryan Kim.
