Plex Pharmaceuticals Finds $600K SBIR Grant

San Diego-based Plex Pharmaceuticals, which is developing antiviral drugs, says it has been awarded a $600,000 Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant, specifically to develop antiviral drug candidates for the treatment of Dengue (DENV) fever, West Nile Virus (WNV) and Zika Virus (ZKV) infections. The grant came from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The company said it has already identified lead candidates for advancing into in-vivo proof of concept translational studies. The company's CEO is Hoji Alimi, and its Chief Scientific Officer is Dr. G. Sridhar Prasad.
