Ring Sunsets Tool Which Let Police Request Videos

Santa Monica-based Ring says it is "sunsetting" a tool that had allowed law enforcement agencies to request and receive videos in its app directly from users. According to Ring, the changes are among a number of changes to its Neighbors app, which it says is intended to "help connect communities". The change comes after years of controversy over the company's cushy relationship with law enforcement, and even allegations that Ring was giving videos to police without user consent or a warrant. Those issues resulted in high profile calls for an investigation into Amazon for how it handles privacy on those Ring cameras.
