Rocket Lab Preps For First U.S. Mission

Huntington beach-based Rocket Lab is preparing to launch its first rocket launch from U.S. soil, saying last week that it successfully completed a "wet" dress rehearsal of an Electron vehicle launch at Wallops Island, Virginia. According to Rocket Lab, the dress rehearsal was at the Rocket Lab Launch Complex 2 (LC-2) at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport in Wallops Island. Wallops Island is a common launch location for U.S. military space payloads. Rocket Lab said its first launch here will be a dedicated launch for the United States Space Force in partnership with the Department of Defense's Space Test Program and the Space and Missile Systems Center's Small Launch and Targets Division. Rocket Lab previously has only launched its missions from its space port in New Zealand.
