TheWaveVR Gets $6M To Expand Virtual Reality Efforts In LA

TheWaveVR, the VR startup led by Adam Arrigo which develops a social virtual reality platform and community focused on music and visual arts, anounced Thursday morning that it has raised $6M in a Series A fundingThe round was led by RRE Ventures, and also included LA's Upfront Ventures, KPCB, Greycroft VR Gaming Tracker Fund, The VR Fund, and others. The investment also included Andy Ross, from the band OK Go; Alex Chung (co-founder and CEO, Giphy); and Matt Brimer (co-founder of General Assembly and Daybreaker). The company specifically said that the funding will help to expand its virtual reality efforts with an Los Angeles office; the company--has its official headquarters in Austin, Texas--says it is collaborating with artists and musicians on a number of high profile VR concerts this year out of the LA office. RRE's Alice Lloyd George joins the company's board of directors. The company says it has now raised $10M in funding. TheWaveVR has been active in Los Angeles since inception. More information »
