Urban Armor Rolls Out Compostable Phone Cases

Worried about the environmental impact of your smartphone? Orange County-based mobile device case maker Urban Armor Gear (UAG) said this morning that it has rolled out a line of biodegradeable, compostable smart phone cases, which it says are made out of 100% compostable bio-plastic. The company said the effort came because "we care about our environment" and that it would help drive solutions towards sustainability. The new "Outback" series of cases starts at $39.95. Although the effort is noteworthy, multiple reports have noted that our habit of rapidly buying new smartphones has a major environmental impact, particularly since they only have an average of a two year life cycle.
