Virgin Galactic Starts Taking Deposits For Spaceflights

Mojave-based space tourism provider Virgin Galactic said late last night that it has launched a new program, which will allow people to pay a fully refundable, registration fee of $1,000 in order to receive the chance to book a seat on future spaceflights. According to Virgin Galactic, the new One Small Step program will put potential customers in the "front of the line for new seats", and will only be limited to a few people. The company said that, as seats become available, those people who have paid the registration fee will be personally contacted to arrange for spaceflight reservations, when new seats are released. Virgin Galactic did not say when it expects to open up additional seats for spaceflights, however, Virgin Galactic recently moved its spacecraft to New Mexico at Spaceport America, where it intends to launch its commercial flights with passengers.
