Xperi's DTS Gets Win With LG Electronics

Xperi, the parent company of what was Calabasas-based DTS, reported that LG Electronics is integrating the DTS Virtual:X immersive audio technology into its latest line of Ultra HD TVs. According to Xperi, the integration of its DTS technology will provide "virtual height" and surround sound without the need for additional speakers in those LG televisions. Financial details of the licensing deal were not announced. DTS was acquired by Tessera in 2016 and Tessera subsequently changed its name to Xperi in February of 2017, after its acquisition of DTS, FotoNation, Invensas, and Tessera.
