Qualcomm Introduces New Multimedia Software For Cell Phones

San Diego-based Qualcomm (www.qualcomm.com) has introduced new multimedia software extensions based on the company's Compact Media Extensions (CMX). The new software provides the ability to create MIDI-based music, text, graphics, animation, speech and sound effects in a time synchronized manner over wireless handsets. The company also said that eMbience, a developer and publisher of wireless software will ship applications based on the new technology. The new software is expected to allow consumers to view and create complete coordinated music, pictures, text, and animation over their cell phones.
