Acacia Research Shifts Patent Licensing HQ To Texas

Newport Beach-based Acacia Research Corporation, which accumulates and licenses patents to other companies, said this morning that it is moving its patent licensing headquarters to Texas. The firm said its wholly owned subsidiary, Acacia Research Group, is moving its corporate headquarters to Frisco, Texas. Reason for the move was not given, however, the new location moves the firm closer to the Eastern District Court of Texas, the most popular location in the country for pursuing patent lawsuits against other companies.
