Boingo Wireless Courts SlingPlayer Users

Los Angeles-based Boingo Wireless, which operates a worldwide network of Wi-Fi hotspots, is looking to attract disgruntled users of Sling's new iPhone application. Sling, which makes "time shifting" hardware devices to record television content, rolled out its SlingPlayer Mobile for iPhone today, with a notable removal of 3G network support due to a spat with AT&T and Apple. Boingo Wireless said it would offer one month free of Boingo Mobile to SlingPlayer Mobile users to attract them to its Wi-Fi service. Sling's new $30 Apple iPhone application rolled out without 3G support due to AT&T saying that the software would violate its terms of service, and potentially "create congestion" on its network.
