Broadcom Ships iSCSI HBA

Irvine-based Broadcom, a provider of semiconductors and other electronic components, announced a new iSCSI host bus adapter (HBA) this morning. Broadcom said that its iSCSI chips are being used as part of its NetExtreme converged network interface controllers. iSCSI HBAs are used in the storage networking industry to transport storage traffic over TCP/IP. According to Broadcom, the firm's iSCSI HBAs provide nearly 200,000 input/output operations per second (IOPS). The HBAs are expected to ship on servers shipped from OEMs, including HP's Proliant server line.
