Evercar Shuts Down, Suspends Services

Los Angeles-based Evercar has quietly shut down its service, and no longer is offering up its on-demand, car sharing services. On a notice on the company's website, the company said its last day was October 10th, and that it has suspended all member accounts. The company said that it processed its last remaining invoices on October 13th. The company said, in a notice posted on its website, that "due to unforeseen circumstances, we will not be able to deliver that service in the near term." Evercar had been attempting to use fleet management techniques to optimize the cost of operating electric cars for Uber and Lyft drivers. The company had successfully managed government fleets, including those for Atlanta and other municipalities, but apparently was unable to successfully scale the model to the ridesharing market. The company had originally been known as Vision Fleet.
