Napster Cuts Managers, Faces Rumors
Napster, the Los Angeles-based music download service has cut 10 middle managers from its payroll, according to MarketWatch and other sources. Napster said that it eliminated the positions as part of a consolidation of online music subscription and music sales efforts at Napster.com. The firm has been facing persistent rumors of upcoming layoffs or a possible sale of the company, which it has denied. Napster provides an online music download subscription service that competes against Apple iTunes and others.
