Occam Names VP
Santa Barbara-based Occam Networks has named Gregory Dion as VP of Operations. The provider of Ethernet and IP broadband equipment said that Dion will be reponsible for all of its operations, including product quality and reliability, manufacturing, and supply chain strategy. Dion was most recently VP of Operations at Sun Microsystems, and was reponsible for Sun's Volume Products Business Unit.

Intermix Names CFO
Los Angeles-based Intermix Media said this morning that it has hired Lisa Terrill, former VP of Finance and Corporate Controller of Ticketmaster, as CFO and Executive Vice President. Terrill has also previously served at LA Gear and PWC/Arthur Andersen. Intermix operates a network of Internet sites and owns the MySpace.com social networking service.

Conexant, Interpeak Team On 802.11
Newport Beach-based Conexant and Interpeak said yesterday that the two companies are working together to create an 802.11 wireless solution for embedded developers. The solution combines hardware from Conexant with Interpeak's TCP/IP networking protocol suite for manufacturers of cell phones, printers, and digital cameras to incorporate wireless functionality. Conexant provides 802.11g and 802.11a/g chipsets; Interpeak provides IPv4/IPv6 TCP/IP protocol software stacks.

Mindspeed Signs Harbour Networks
Newport Beach-based Mindspeed said yesterday that it has signed Harbour Networks as a customer of its VoIP processors. Harbour is shipping the Mindspeed Comcerto Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) processor in its access and trunking gateways. Harbour is deploying VoIP equipment across China, Japan, and other countries. Mindspeed's components provide digital signal processing (DSP) and processing for manufacturers of telecommunications equipment.

Kingston, U3 Partner on USB Drives
Fountain Valley-based Kingston Technology and U3 have announced that the two companies will work together to incorporate U3's technology into Kingston's DataTraveler line of USB flash drives. Kingston will use U3's technology to create smart USB drives which incorporate security and application launching capability, rather than acting just as simple disk drives. Nexsan Eyes Acquisition
Woodland Hills-based Nexsan is on the prowl for acquisitions, and is apparently set to acquire startup EverTrust, a company in the content-addressed storage (CAS) market today, according to publication Byte & Switch. Nexsan, a maker of Serial-ATA (SATA), low-cost storage arrays, is reportedly looking to make a move into the compliance market, which is booming due to Sarbanes Oxley and other regulatory requirements. Warner, SEGA Launch Matrix Online
Burbank-based Warner Bros. Interactive Intertainment and SEGA announced today that they are launching a massively multi-player online g*me centered around The Matrix. The new online service incorporates the Matrix film into a PC-based g*me which incorporates the characters, music, and settings of the Matrix. The companies also said that they will include a live events team that will act as actual Matrix characters for missions and player-organized events.
