Agile Materials Sues Competitor
Goleta-based Agile Materials & Technologies said today that it is suing Paratek Microwave for patent infringement, breach of contract, and unfair competition. Agile is a developer of tunable wireless filters and other components for the wireless industry. Paratek is a Columbia Maryland-based competitor in the tunable RF components space, and had filed a patent infringement suit itself against Agile in January.

X1 Ships SMB Desktop Search Software
Pasadena-based X1 Technologies, a provider of desktop search tools, said yesterday afternoon that it has shipped X1 Team Edition, a version of its technology designed specifically for small and medium businesses. The X1 Team Edition software adds administrative tools and a deployment management tool for controlling the search software. PRISMIQ Adds Internet Filtering
Santa Barbara-based PRISMIQ announced yesterday that it has released a new wireless router aimed at monitoring and controlling internet traffic. The company's new Commander Wireless Router with Internet Warning and Control Software monitors and controls home Internet traffic. The introduction of its 4-port wireless router comes in conjunction with an 802.11g/b wireless card, and is targeted at home consumers. JAMDAT Takes DOOM Mobile
Los Angeles-based JAMDAT Mobile and game developer id Software, developer of the popular entertainment title DOOM said this morning that they are working toether to bring the popular DOOM title to mobile phones. JAMDAT has signed a multiyear license agreement with id to distribute a new wireless version of the title. The agreement also calls for JAMDAT to publish a second title from id software. DOOM is an extremely popular entertainment series for the PC and Xbox.

Boingo Bounces Into Nextel
Santa Monica-based Boingo Wireless is powering a new Nextel WiFi HotSpot service launched last Friday, targeted at business travelers. Nextel said that it was launching an unlimited broadband Internet access service for laptop computers at a set monthly fee, using Boingo's network of North American hotspot locations. Avanton Receives Angel Round
Manhattan Beach-based computer security software firm Avanton has raised an angel round of funding from Angel Strategies. The firm said that Angel Strategies will also help the company with securing an outside investment round. Avanton is developing corporate security products aimed at small and mid-sized businesses. The company is targeting network security with an appliance based on open source security components for SMBs. Amount of funding was not disclosed.

Stamps.com PhotoStamps Return
Los Angeles-based Stamps.com's popular PhotoStamps service has returned to the market. The company has re-launched the service, which allows any customer to create personalized stamps from personal photos, after receiving approval from the US Postal Service to conduct a year long market test for the service starting today. MPAA Targets Video Downloaders
The Motion Picture Association of America has fired another volley in its campaign against online file swappers, with a new lawsuit against six BitTorrent websites that it says are responsible for swapping millions of dollars of motion picture and television programming.
