DATAllegro Expands Exec Team
Aliso Viejo-based DATAllegro said yesterday that it has added Mark Theissen as VP of Professional Services. Theissen was most recently VP at META Group (now Gartner Group) in the area of Enterprise Analytics. Theissen also served as VP of professional services at Accruent. Accruent develops data warehousing appliances and is backed by Intel Capital, Palomar Ventures, Venrock Associates, and Adams Capital Management.

GoldPocket In Alliance With Digital TV Provider
Los Angeles-based GoldPocket Interactive has signed a strategic alliance with Bell ExpressVu, a provider of digital TV services in Canada. The alliance calls for GoldPocket to enhance NFL Sunday Ticket games for Bell's digital TV service. Bell ExpressVu is Bell Canada's digital television unit. Tandberg Data Targets SMB Backup
Poway-based Tandberg Data said this week that it has introduced a new product aimed at the SMB backup market. The company said that its new InteliStor SMB network backup appliance uses Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003 and Symantec Backup Exec software to provide easy backup for small and medium businesses. The appliance allows companies to easily deploy data backup as a starter package for those businesses, which typically have few IT resources and personnel and support. Vue Technology Receives VC Funding for RFID Systems
Aliso Viejo-based Vue Technology announced Wednesday that the new company has received an investment round from Partech International and Canaan Partners. The firm, formerly Intelligent Systems, was spun off from MeadWestvaco's New Ventures Group as a stand alone company. Vue Technology develops RF networking and RFID solution development. JDS Uniphase Buys Agility Communications
JDS Uniphase said yesterday that it has agreed to acquire Santa Barbara-based Agility Communications. Agility Communications is a developer of tunable lasers used for optical networking. Terms were not disclosed. Agility Communications has 90 employees, and will expand the JDS Uniphase line of tunable lasers and transponders.
