U.S. Venture Capitalists Invest $6.36B In Q3
Ernst & Young and Dow Jones VentureOne are reporting today that there was $6.36B invested in 611 venture capital deals in the third quarter, with a slight increase in both the number of deals and amount of investment versus a year ago. The firms said that overall deal count increased 2% from Q3 of 2005, and capital investments were up 5%. Total investments this year now stand at $19.46B in 1,851 deals. VitalStream Streams LA Kings
Irvine-based VitalStream Holdings, a content delivery network provider, said today that it will power the Los Angeles Kings online video portal. VitalStream said that the firm and its partners VirtuPoint will broadcast LA Kings live events, press conferences, interviews, and other content. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

eEye Unveils Upgraded Pro, User Security Tools
Aliso Viejo-based eEye Digital Security has rolled out two upgraded, endpoint security software suites today, saying that it is shipping a new version of the firm's Blink Professional and Blink Personal software. eEye said that the new version of Blink Professional adds new security features including dynamic policy control, policy-based hardware access control to devices such as USB keys and iPods; and execution control of software. MOSIS Adds Tanner EDA Software Kit
Marina Del Rey-based MOSIS, a provider of prototyping and small volume VLSI circuit production, said today that it has reached an agreement with Monrovia-based Tanner EDA to provide foundry design kits free of charge to its customers. The kits will provide the ability for engineers to move their designs between different process technologies. Iomega Taps Verisign, Jupiter For Managed Security
San Diego-based Iomega, the storage provider that is making its move into managed services, said today that it is tapping Versign and Juniper Networks for its managed Internet security service. Iomega said it has developed a fully managed Internet security solution using Juniper and VeriSign products. The SMB-focused managed security service are using Juniper's firewall, IPSec VPN, threat management, and SSL VPN products, along with VeriSign's two-factor authentication. AWR Expands In Japan
El Segundo-based Applied Wave Research, a developer of high frequency electronic design automation software, announced this morning that it has opened a dedicated office in Japan. AWR said that the new sales, marketing, and support center will supports its Japanese EDA customers. The new office wil lbe headed by Michiyoshi Endo. Venture-backed AWR is supported by CMEA Ventures, Dow Employee Pension Plan, Intel Capital, Southern Ute Growth Fund and Synopsys.
