X PRIZE Foundation Names President
Los Angeles-based X PRIZE Foundation, the nonprofit group behind the Ansari X Prize and several other prizes for developments in space, medicine, and fuel-efficient vehicles, said today it has named Tom Vander Ark as President. Vander Ark was most recently Executive Director of Education for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Nova Development Acquired By Avanquest
French firm Avanquest Software said this morning that it has acquired Calabasas-based Nova Development, a publisher of software for the Windows and Macintosh markets. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Avanquest is a profitable publisher of business and consumer software titles for the PC market. Nova had annual sales of approximately $32M in 2006, according to Avanquest, and employs more than 70 people. Kintera Expands To Accounting
San Diego-based Kintera, a provider of software-as-a-service and CRM tools for nonprofits, said today that it has expanded its platform to provide fund accounting. The firm said that its software is the first SaaS solution for accounting specifically tailored to nonprofits. The new software will support integration with existing business applications, e-commerce, utility billing, grants management, and donor management.

Userplane Adds Rev Share Program
Los Angeles-based Userplane, a provider of online instant messaging and other social networking tools, said Tuesday that the firm has rolled out a new ad revenue sharing program. The new program offsets licensing fees for the firm's products with ad revenue sharing. Userplane said that PlentyofFish, an online dating web site, is the first site to take advantage of its program. Boost Teams For Mobile Art
Irvine-based Boost Mobile, a provider of youth oriented mobile phone service, said yesterday that it is in a deal with artist RETNA to provide mobile art content for its cellular phone subscribers. Boost Mobile said that it will also collaborate with the artist to design mobile accesories and other pop culture products.

Streamload Powers Video Editing Software
San Diego-based Streamload, a provider of online storage services, announced Tuesday that its services have been integrated into video editing software from CyberLink. Streamload said that Cyberlink MagicDirector 2, an automated video editing plug-in for Vista Media Center, has been integrated into its MediaMax storage services. CyberLink customer will be able to upload and share their video files using Streamload's online storage service.
