THQ Appoints VC To Board of Directors
Agoura Hills-based THQ said this morning that it has added a new member to its board of directors. THQ said that it has appointed Gary Rieschel, founder of Qiming Venture Partners, to its board of directors. Qiming is a $200M fund that invests in early stage Chinese companies. Rieschel is also a founder of SOFTBANK Venture Capital/Mobius Venture Capital.

DivX In Content Partnership
San Diego-based DivX said this morning that it is in a partnership with Quality Firms, to take 500 feature films to the Mexican market. DivX said it has obtained the rights to such films as Dirty Dancing and Out of Time, and will encode those in DivX format for bundling with DivX certified DVD players. Quality Films is an international distributor of films, and owns rights to the feature films involved for Mexico.

SOA Software Adds Integrator
Los Angeles-based SOA Software has added a new partner, Applied Technology Solutions, a Michigan-based software solutions provider. The two firms said today that Applied Technology Solutions will provide SOA's products to mid and large sized corporations. SOA Software develops service-oriented architecture software used by companies to develop corporate IT software, and is backed by Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Redpoint, Mellon Ventures, Palisades Ventures Fund and Paladin Capital Group.

SKY MobileMedia Tapped By BenQ For Handsets
San Diego-based SKY MobileMedia, which develops application software for the wireless handset industry, said today that BenQ has chosen the firm for handset programs that it says will go to market in 2007. BenQ is an existing customer of the firm. SKY develops software used for designing cellular phone handsets.

LiveDigital Adds User Revenue Sharing
Los Angeles-based LiveDigital is launching a new effort to extend the online video sharing web site's reach, saying Tuesday that it will allow its users to design, program, and brand their own Internet channels, and share the revenues from those channels with users. LiveDigital, which is owned by Oversee.net, said that it believes that video sharing and hosting technology has become a commodity, and that the effort will help will help it engage users for a longer period of time. Autobytel Hires CFO
Irvine-based Autobytel has hired a new CFO, saying Tuesday that Monty A. Houdeshell will join the firm as EVP and Chief Financial Officer. Houseshell was most recently CFO of RemedyTemp, and has also served at Furon Company and Oak Industries. Autobytel provides Internet automotive marketing services.
