Vitesse Appoints Director
Camarillo-based Vitesse Semiconductor said Monday that it has elected Steve P. Hanson, former CEO of ON Semiconductor, to its board. Hanson is currently a senior partner in private equity firm Southwest Value Acquisitions, and also has served at Motorola. Vitesse said that Hanson will serve on its Audit and Corporate Governance committees. Vitesse is a designer of semiconductors for the communications and storage markets.

Southland Micro Systems Acquired By StakTek
Irvine-based Southland Micro Systems, a provider of memory products, has been acquired by Texas-based Staktek Holdings, Staktek said Tuesday. Staktek said it will pay $18M in cash plus assume $5M in debt to purchase Southland, in a deal which also includes up to $7M in cash or stock in future earn out. Southland Micro Systems employs approximately 80 in Irvine, where it has a design, manufacturing, and customer support center. AeroVironment's MacCready Retires
AeroVironment, a manufacturer of unmanned aircraft and electric energy components, announced yesterday that its board of directors has unanimously elected Tim Conver as its next chairman. Conver, who has served on AeroVironment's board since the late 1980s, succeeds founder Dr. Paul MacCready, who has retired for health reasons. SEMDirector Releases Software, Inks Partnerships
San Diego-based SEMDirector has released two new software offerings, and inked a number of partnerships. The firm, which provides software for automating search engine optimization (SEO), said Monday that it has released new versions of the firm's Organic Insight and Paid Insight products. The firm's Organic Insight tool is used to automate web site auditing for SEO practices; the Paid Insight product handles paid search analysis. Revver Names Hernandez VP Ad Sales
Los Angeles-based Revver, the online video sharing web site, said Monday that it has hired Marc Hernandez as Vice President of Advertising Sales. Hernandez joins the firm from Tribal Fusion, and has also served at Eyeblaster, ShowBIZ Data, Crescendo Entertainment Group, Zide/Perry Entertainment, and the United Talent Agency. Hernandez will manage the firm's advertising sales operations.

CallWave Loses CEO
Santa Barbara-based Callwave said Monday afternoon that Dave Hofstatter, the firm's President and CEO, has left the firm. Mark Stubbs, the company's CFO, is serving as interim CEO. According to the company, Hofstatter left the company to "pursue other business opportunities". Hofstatter co-founded CallWave in 1998. The company said that it has formed a search committee to recruit a permanent CEO.

Strix Systems Enters Video Surveillance Market
Calabasas-based Strix Systems, a provider of wireless mesh networking hardware, announced a new system targeting the IP video surveillance market today. The firm's new product, which is based on its existing wireless mesh network line, allows systems integrators to build a distributed IP video surveillance system. IP video surveillance systems use wireless network technology and IP-enabled cameras for in-store or other security surveillance.

Pricegrabber's Pourzanjani Joins Oversee.net's Board
Los Angeles-based Oversee.net said today that it has added Kamran Pourzanjani, former CEO and founder of PriceGrabber.com, to its board of directors. Oversee.net runs an online marketing business, including a domain monetization and online lead generation businesses; the firm also owns SnapNames, which acquires expired and deleting domain names for resale. Pourzanjani founded PriceGrabber.com in 1999 and led the sale of the firm to Experian in 2005 for $485M.

DATAllegro Releases New Data Warehouse Appliance
Aliso Viejo-based DATAllegro said today that it has launched a new data warehouse appliance, targeted at online archiving. The firm said that the new appliance is designed to hold petabytes of historical data online in a small data center footprint. DATAllegro's products are used by companies for data warehousing and analysis; the new product used Dell servers, EMC storage, and Cisco switches along with the firm's data warehousing software. Inphi Adds Srinivasan To Board
Westlake Village-based Inphi said today that it has named Sam Srinivasan to its board of directors. Inphi develops high speed semiconductors used for the data communications and other industries. Srinivasan currently is a director at Sirf Technology HOldings and Centillium Communications, and has also served as CFO of Cirrus Logic, corporate controller at Intel, and Eaton Corp.
