Buzznet Snags TMZ's Citron
Hollywood-based Buzznet, the online social media site focused on music and pop culture, has snagged Alan Citron, former general manager of Time Warner's TMZ, the firm said today. Citron will act as head of the what the firm describes as "Special Projects." Dakim Announces Customer Wins
Santa Monica-based Dakim, which develops a brain fitness system targeted at seniors, said today that the firm's systems have now been installed at more than 150 senior living communities. The firm's products includes games and other exercises which help senior citizens combat dementia. Dakim's system is an Internet-connected, hardware device which is installed at senior living centers, and downloads regular updates and new features. National Lampoon Buys AllModelZone.com
Los Angeles-based publisher National Lampoon said today that it has acquired AllModelZone.com, a web site focused on social networking in the modeling industry. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. AllModelZone.com was owned by Alle Von Technologies, LLC. According to National Lampoon, the firm will use the site to grow its online platforms, and in particular to expand in the female demographic. Nexsan Rolls New NAS Product
Thousand Oaks-based Nexsan said Monday that it has rolled out a new, network attached storage (NAS) product focused on the small to medium-sized business market. Nexsan said the NAS product, called The Edge, is designed with "green" data storage in mind. The new product implements power management on its product, using what it calls AutoMAID--the ability to automatically power down drives when not needed.
