Fandango Extends Deal With Regal Entertainment
Los Angeles-based online and mobile movie ticketing and information service Fandango announced today that it has extended a current ticketing contract it has with Regal Entertainment Group. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Fandango said the move will allow it to continue to provide its online and mobile ticketing service to Regal Entertainment for an additional five years. Montgomery & Co. Exits Advisory Business
Montgomery & Co., the investment banking firm which got its start in Los Angeles focusing on high tech companies--and as a onetime venture capital investor--has exited the investment banking and advisory business, the firm said today. The firm, which is now based in San Francisco but still had a big market presence in Los Angeles, is transferring 13 investment banking professionals to Signal Hill. Report: Fisker Sued Over Unpaid Bills
Irvine-based Fisker Automotive has yet to file for bankruptcy, but its vendors appear to be getting in line for any liquidation of the firm. According to a report this morning, multiple lawsuits are now in motion from Fisker's vendors, over unpaid bills, including one by its web site and mobile designer. That firm, Ignited, has apparently sued Fisker for $535,000 in unpaid bills owed by the company. ViaSat Buys LonoCloud
Carslbad-based Viasat, which develops satellite and other wireless networking products and services, said Friday that it has acquired LonoCloud, a La Jolla-based startup developing cloud-based networking software for the distributed computing market. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. ViaSat said that Lonocloud is developing a cloud-based platform specifically aimed at the "Internet of Things", including a mesh algorithm for connecting together multiple servers. Life Technologies Agrees On Acquisition Deal With Thermo Fisher Scientific
Carlsbad-based life science equipment maker Life Technologies and Thermo Fisher Scientific said this morning that the two are in a definitive agreement, where Thermo Fisher will buy Life Technologies for $76.00 in cash per share, or approximately $13.6 billion, plus the assumption of net worth around $2.2 billion. The deal comes after weeks of rumors of a buyout effort from multiple private equity firms.

Novatel Wireless Gets Certification On M2M Network
San Diego-based Novatel Wireless said today that it has received technical certification of its machine-to-machine (M2M) modules on the Aeris Communications network. Aeris Communications operates a cellular network specifically aimed at use by machine-to-machine communications. Novatel said Aeris certified its CDMA2000 1X Enabler HS 3001 module, which is aimed at the security, alarm, telemetry, asset tracking, POS, mHealth, AVL and AMI/AMR industries. Ambit Biosciences Names Venture Partner To Board
San Diego-based biopharmaceuticals firm Ambit Biosciences announced this morning that it has tapped a venture partner from New Enterprise Associates for a new board member. Ambit said it has named David R. Parkinson, M.D. to its board of directors; Parkinson also serves on the board of Threshold Pharmaceuticals and Zyngenia, in addition to previously sitting on the boards of Facet Biotech. He was previously CEO and President of Nodality become joining NEA.
