In the aftermath of a stunning U.S. election--there was one local, media startup which called the dynamics of the election year right: Los Angeles-based TYT Network, and founder Cenk Uygur. Hyperloop One Co-founder Plans California Secession Effort
Shervin Pishevar, the co-founder of Los Angeles-based Hyperloop One, is pushing for a serious, grassroots efforts for California to secede from the United States, after the stunning victory of Donald Trump on Tuesday night. Pishevar--who was an early investor in Uber and Dollar Shave Club--posted a series of Tweets say he would be funding a legitimate campaign for California to become its own nation, saying "It's the most patriotic thing we can do. Country is at serious crossroads."

Indeed: Searches For Jobs In Canada Spike With Election
Job search site Indeed released some statistics out of its job search activity this morning, saying that there has been a spike in searches for jobs to Canada, after the election results last night. Jed Kolko, Chief Economist for the site, said in a statement: "Americans were searching for jobs in Canada at ten times the rate of previous nights" after the Trump victory. Kolko said that "it's far too soon to guess" how many actually will make a move after the shock wears off.

Demand Media Emerges As Leaf Group
Santa Monica-based Demand Media--in what looks to be a tumultuous day to for the stock market--said this morning that it will begin trading its common stock today on the New York Stock Exchange under the new ticker symbol, LFGR. The company is changing its name to Leaf Group Ltd. Resonant Reports Contract Win
Goleta-based Resonant, which develops technology used for filters for radio frequency (RF) front ends, reported a win in Europe, via its Swiss subsidiary, GVR Trade SA. The company said that it signed a contract with EuroStars to fund a multi-year project for the development of sensors for new medical applications. Financial terms of the deal were not announced by the company.

IGN Entertainment, which produces online video game and entertainment content, said Tuesday that it has named Wade Beckett as its Chief Programming Officer and SVP of Video, based here in Los Angeles. Beckett was previously Chief Programming Officer and Sr. Vice President of Production, at Fusion -- a Disney/ABC & Univision joint venture.
