Terran Orbital Gets Investment From Lockheed Martin
Irvine-based Terran Orbital, a developer of nanosatellite technology, has received a strategic funding round from Lockheed Martin, via Lockheed Martin Ventures. Financial details of the funding were not announced. Lockheed announced the investment on Friday. Terran Orbital is focused on nanosatellite design, development, manufacturing, testing and launch, and is led by CEO Tony Previte.

SpaceX Dragon Headed Back From ISS On Sunday Morning
The SpaceX Dragon cargo spacecraft currently docked at the International Space Station is scheduled to return to earth on Sunday, according to NASA. NASA said it will be broadcasting coverage of the departure of the SpaceX dragon starting at 7:15 a.m. PT on July 2nd. SpaceX successfully docked the Dragon on June 5th, delivering 6,000 pounds of cargo to the ISS. The Dragon is expected to splash down in the Pacific Ocean at around 5:16 pm. Vector Challenges SpaceX With $21M In Funding For Satellite Launch Systems
Vector, a developer of micro-satellite launch systems and rocket technology whose founders came from SpaceX, said on Thursday that it has raised $21‌M in a Series A funding. The funding was led by Sequoia Capital, and also included Shasta Ventures and Lightspeed. The company is based in Arizona, but the majority of its founders are from Los Angeles. Headspace Lands $36.7M More
Los Angeles-based Headspace, which develops meditation applications for your smartphone or tablet, has raised $36.7M in funding, the company disclosed on Friday. The funding came from Spectrum Equity. The company has now raised $73.7M in total. Headspace is now led by co-founder Rich Pierson, after a a big management shakeup. Elon Musk Shows Off LA Tunnel Construction
Elon Musk has released several videos of tunnel construction at the SpaceX, showing the installation of an elevator designed to take cars or "pods" down to a newly completed tunnel. The tunnel's entrace is apparently being built in SpaceX's parking lot. Musks's "The Boring Company" is hoping to build a network of tunnels under Los Angeles to help people avoid traffic congestion and transport people across the city, but has mostly been mum about its efforts. Activision Brings Back Crash Bandicoot
Santa Monica-based videogame publisher Activision has brought back Crash Bandicoot, its popular videogame character, in a new remake of the original three games for the PS4 and PS4 Pro. Activisoin said that it has released the first three games in the series, Crash Bandicoot; Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortext Strikes Back; and Crash Bandicoot 3: warped. Daylight Solutions Now Part Of Leonardo DRS
San Diego-based Daylight Solutions announced on Thursday that it is now part of Leonardo DRS, after receipt of final regulatory approvals on the $150M acquisition. The deal had originally been announced in March. Daylight Soultions said it will continue to operate from San Diego, with its three co-founders, Dr. Timothy Day, Paul Larson and Sam Crivello, remaining with the company. Local Robotics Team Competes In NASA Space Robotics Challenge
A local, Los Angeles-area team is one of 20 finalists in the NASA Space Robotics Challenge, with the chance to win part of $600,000 in prizes, to be awarded later today. According to NASA, Coordinated Robotics, based in Newbury Park, California, is one of just 20 teams which competed in the final round at NASA's Space Center Houston this week. Toshiba Starts Selling Cylance Antivirus Software
Irvine-based antivirus software developer Cylance reported Thursday that it has signed a distribution agreement with Toshiba, where Toshiba Corporation Industrial ICT Solutions Company Group (Toshiba Industrial ICT Solutions) will sell its artificial intelligence-based antivirus solution. Cylance said the deal came about after Toshiba Group started installing CylancePROTECT internally, with an in-house deployment on approximately 5,500 endpoints.
