    Nirvanix Gets Win With Facebook App Provider


    San Diego-based online storage firm Nirvanix said Thursday that it has been selected by FreeDrive, a firm which provides a Facebook file sharing widget. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. FreeDrive has a Facebook application which allows users of the popular social networking web site to share photos, videos, music, and documents with their friends. FreeDrive offers its services for free to users. According to Nirvanix, FreeDrive decided to use the firm's storage services because the cost of purchasing, maintaining, and servicing its own storage infrastructure. Venture-backed Nirvanix operates an online storage service which is accessible through an application programming interface (API), and competes head to head with Amazon's S3 storage service.
