PlayVS Adds $50M In Series C Funding

Los Angeles-based PlayVS, a startup which is creating a nationwide e-sports league for high schoolers, has raised $50M more in a Series C funding round. According to the company, the funding was led by NEA, and also included Battery Ventures, Sapphire Sport, plus angels Dick Costolo and Adam Bain (01 Advisors), Michael Zeisser, Dennis Phelps (IVP) and Michael Ovitz (CAA). PlayVS is led by founder and CEO Delane Parnell. The company is developing a network to help create e-sports teams through schools, managing leagues with neighboring school like traditional sports. The company has now raised over $95M in total funding since it was launched in April of 2018.
