Idealab's Snap search engine has added a news search engine, powered by X1 Technologies and Moreover. The company's new site, newsfilter.com, uses an X1-style "search-as-you-go" interface that allows users to type in partial searches which are updated on the fly, showing the nearest matches. Like the X1 interface, the Snap.com search shows a preview of the web page on the right hand pane, including text and a snapshot of the web page view. X1 is also an Idealab company, and provides the desktop search component for search engine firm Yahoo.
