Camarillo-based semiconductor maker Vitesse has taken aim at the Gigabit Wi-Fi, 802.11ac market this week, with a new Ethernet switch product. Vitesse said its latest family of chips--the SparX-IV family, are a set of Ethernet switches specifically aimed at supporting 802.11ac WLAN Enterprise deployments. The family of chips includes features such as Layer 3 routing support; a wide range of temperature range support for rugged, industrial environments; and traffic classification features. The company said the chip family is sampling now.
