Westlake Village-based Xirrus is targeting users interested in quality of service with a new focus on QoS for voice and video over IP. The firm announced this morning that its hardware now supports quality-of-service, for Wi-Fi networks supporting voice and video over IP applications. The firm's switched Wi-Fi hardware now provides virtual LAN and prioritization of packets, allowing for policy-driven control of Wi-Fi traffic. Xirrus develops a switched Wi-Fi array that provides greater capacity and easier management of wireless LAN access points. The firm is backed by August Capital and US Venture Partners.
