Chumby Debuts Smart Internet Device
San Diego-based Chumby Industries has rolled out the firm's consumer, Internet radio and video device, the firm said Monday. The company, which is venture backed by O'Reilly Alphatech Ventures, said the firm's chumby device is now available on the firm's web site. Chumby's device allows users to send Internet radio broadcasts, videos, photos, and other information to what looks like an alarm clock. The Wi-Fi device -- which is about the size of a coffee mug -- also can be programmed to provide news, weather, and entertainment. Chumby said the product is available for $179.95, and will also feature content from CBS, MTV Networks, MySpace, The Weather Channel Interactive, AOL's SHOUTcast and Scripps Networks.
