Genies Raises $150M, Joins Unicorn Club

Los Angeles-based Genies, a company that develops avatars and avatar creation tools for celebrities and others, has raised $150M in a funding round, which the company says gives it a valuation of above $1 billion. The funding was led by Silver Lake, and also included Bond, NEA, and Tamarack Global. The company uses the blockchain for powering its tools, which lets users create their own avatars, fashion accessories, homes, and more.
