Active Network Launches Ski Resort App
San Diego-based Active Network reported this morning that its RTP unit, the provider of ski resort and park information software, has launched a new mobile app platform called LiveInfo. The firm said the mobile app platform allows resorts, parks, and attractions to create their own, custom branded iPhone and Android apps. Active Network said the platform will allow resorts to build their own, branded apps which support sharing of photos and updates by consumers, tracking of a consumer's performance with GPS, and can provide up to the second weather and information, and more. Pricing on the new tool was not announced by RTP and Active Network. RTP also offers additional, mobile app platforms to handle ticketing, point of sale, and other ticket management functions. Active Network acquired RTP on November 10th. RTP's software was originally developed in 1998 for Vail, and later expanded to cover other ski resorts.
