AcuFocus Acquired By Bausch + Lomb

Irvine-based AcuFocus, a privately held medical device company developing opthalmic devices, has been acquired by Bausch + Lomb Corporation, the companies said late Tuesday evening. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. AcuFocus has developing small aperture intraocular lenses, which have been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for treating certain cataract patients. Bausch + Lomb said the acquisition will enhance its surgical portfolio. The AcuFocus lens works for cataract patients who have both as much as 1.5 diopters of orneal astigmatism and near sightedness (presbyopia).
