Monrovia-based AeroVironment said Tuesday that it has received a $35.2M order, for the firm's Puma All Environment unmanned aircraft systems. The firm said the order came from the USSOCOM, the U.S. unified command for U.S. Special Operations. AeroVironment said the UAVs will be used to protect troops and vehicles in combat areas. The contract covers unmanned aircraft systems, spares and training services. AeroVironment is a provider of a number of different unmanned aircraft systems used by the military and other departments. The firm said its Puma UAS was selected in 2008 by USSOCOM.
