    Avery Dennison Opens RFID Division

Pasadena-based Avery Dennison announced that it has opened a new business unit focused on low-cost radio frequency identification (RFID) inlays and tags. The new division will market RFID tags to its current customers who use the company's pressure-sensitive labels, including industrial and automative businesses. The company said that it is in a pilot program with the U.S. Transportation Safety Administration to provide RFID-enabled devices to monitor container shipments on ocean vessels, to enhance security at the nation's ports.
