Bird Looks To Supercharge Wheelchairs In NYC Pilot

Santa Monica-based micromobility provider Bird is looking to soup up your wheelchair, in a New York City pilot program, with a new, battery powered attachment for wheelchairs. According to Bird, the pilot program--running initially in the Bronx--allows wheelchair users to more easily navigate hills, inclines and long distance trips throughout the city. The new attachment is compatible with most wheelchairs, according to Bird, and includes a 350-watt motor and lightweight removable li-ion battery. The service is free to participants in the Bronx, as part of the pilot with the NYCDOT.
