Boingo Wireless Find $65M in Series C

Santa Monica-based Boingo Wireless has raised $65M in a Series C funding, the firm is announcing today. The funding was led by Mitsui & Co., and included new investors Mitsui Corporate Development Funds and Mitsui USA, along with Steelpoint Capital Partners and Red Rock Ventures. Existing investors New Enterprise Associates and Sternhill Partners also participated. The funding takes the firm's total venture capital raised to $95M in three rounds of funding. As part of the funding, Roy Thiele-Sardina of Steelpoint will join the firm's board of directors. Boingo said it used a portion of the funding for its acquisition of Concourse Communications Group earlier this year. Boingo operates a network of wireless Internet points in hotels, airports, and other public locations. More information »
