Broadcom Ships 1080p Digital TV Chip

Irvine-based Broadcom has shipped a new, single-chip 1080p digital TV solution, which the firm says is the industry's first. Broadcom's new digital television chip provides a television in a chip, targeted at manufacturers developing high definition television sets. The 65nm system-on-a-chip implements the HD1080p standard, which is the highest quality video display standard for HDTV. The silicon is targeted at manufacturers looking to reduce complexity and system cost for their next generation of HDTV products.
