CEIVA Logic Sues Digital Photo Frame Makers

Burbank-based CEIVA Logic, a manufacturer of photo frames and online photo services, said Tuesday that it has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against two companies, Frame Media, Inc. and Digital Spectrum Solutions, Inc. According to the firm, CEIVA asserts that Frame Media's FrameChannel photo sharing service, and Digital Spectrum's web enabled pictures frames infringe on a patent granted to the firm. CEIVA is looking for damages for the patent infringement, and an injunction on the two firms for selling products or systems that infringe on CEIVA's patent. CEIVA said the suit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, and that it is represented by The Hecker Law Group in the lawsuit. CEIVA is a manufacturer of digital photo frames; the firm's digital photo frames connect into an online service which allows family and friends to update new photos automatically from the Internet. The patent in question is U.S Patent No., 6,442,573 entitled "Method and Apparatus for Distributing Picture Mail to a Frame Device Community."
