    Developer Makes Solar Panels Standard

A home developer building a 300 home project in Bakersfield said today that it will provide solar power systems as a standard feature on all of its homes. BLUE S.K.Y Homes, which is developing a residential home project in the master planned community of City in the Hills said that the solar energy systems will range from between 1.7 and 3.5 kilowatts, and will use systems from Sharp Solar, with installation by installer Renewable Energy Concepts (REC). California Governer Arnold Schwarzenegger recently signed a new bill, SB 1, that mandates offering solar panels on all new homes by January 1, 2011. That bill, dubbed the Million Solar Roof plan, looks to boost the use of solar energy in California by 3,000 megawatts, through incentives and other means.
