El Monte-based Solarmer, the UCLA spinout which is developing flexible photovoltaic power technology, is in a deal to provide its technology to an artist glass design studio, Joel Berman Glass Studios. According to the two firms, Solarmer Energy and Joel Berman Glass Studios are in a joint development project, where the two developed a decorative glass panel which can general clean renewable energy. The firms said the panel combines glass panels from Joel Berman Glass Studios with Solarmer Energy's plastic solar cells, which makes it possible to generate solar energy from those panels. The firms did not detail how much energy can be generated by the panels or when those panels would be commercially available.
