Calabasas-based audio technology provider DTS said over the weekend that it has linked with two, loudspeaker manufacturers, who are rolling out Play-fi enabled wireless speakers. DTS said that AmTRAN Technology and Hansong Technology are both developing DTS-certified, reference designs using the DTS Play-Fi, wireless speaker technology. DTS has been looking to challenge competitors like Sonos and others with its own, wireless speaker design, which it is licensing to multiple partners. Play-Fi is the wireless speaker and related software which DTS has been aiming at OEM partners; that technology handles streaming audio from Android, iOS, and Kindle Fire devices to multiple rooms and speakers via Wi-Fi. DTS originally acquired the base of its Play-Fi technology from Phorus back in 2012.
