    EVDB Raises Series A

La Jolla-based EVDB has raised $2.1M from Draper Fisher Jurvetson, the Omidyar Network, and a slate of high tech notables for its collaborative database technology for events. The company said that it will use the funding to further the development of its collaborative, searchable database and web services platform for event and venue data. The firm said that it is part search engine, part wiki, and part blog and will include hooks to personal calendars or mobile devices. The company also said that it has closed a seed investment round from investors Esther Dyson of CNET Networks, Joshua Kopelman of Half.com, Evan Williams of Pyra and Odeo, Mark Pincus of Tribe Networks, Dan O'Neill of Trusonic, and Thomas Sammon of PersonaLogic. The investment is the first Southern California investment of the Omidyar Network, the half charity/venture capital fund of eBay founder Pierre Omidyar.
