    AeroVironment Raven UAV Hits 3000 Units


    Monrovia, California-based AeroVironment announced today that its Raven Unmanned Aerial Vehicle has surpassed the 3000 vehicle mark in production. The firm's UAV is used by the U.S. Army and Special Forces for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance. AeroVironment said that the UAV has now logged over 18,673 flight hours in 15,314 sorties in Iraq and Afghanistan. AeroVironment was founded by Paul MacCready, known for creating the Gossamer Condor, the first human-powered airplane. The firm now develops both UAVs and electric vehicle fast charging systems.
