Los Angeles-based Gaikai, the cloud-based game streaming service backed by Benchmark Capital, TriplePoint Capital, Rustic Canyon Partners, Limelight Networks and Intel Capital, said Thursday that it is powering a game site, "The Escapist". Gaikai said that "The Escapist" will use its platform to stream demos of games like Electronic Arts Dead Space 2 and Mass Effect 2 to game players, with other major video game publishers making their titles available through the site. Financial impact of the win were not disclosed. Gaikai said the deal is the first in the launch of an "Affiliate Network" for the company. Gaikai develops video game streaming technology, which allows users to play video games without requiring large downloads and installs by players.
