    Gateway Axes More Employees

Poway-based Gateway reports that it is axing 1500 more jobs in its quest to enhance the efficiency of the firm, which recently combined with eMachines. The announcement came as the company announced a loss for the quarter. Gateway had just announced the closing of its retail stores and an associated layoff. This round will bring Gateway's total employees to around 2000. The company is also relocating its headquarters from Poway to new offices in Irvine, where many of eMachines executives are headquartered.
