Los Angeles-based j2 Global, the provider of Internet fax, cloud-based online backup, unified communications, email, and other services--as well as the owner of publisher Ziff Davis--said this morning that it has acquired MetroFax, a provider of Internet faxing services. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. j2 Global said the acquisition is not expected to be material to the company. MetroFax was based in Bellevue, Washington.
In recent years, j2 Global has been among the region's most acquisitive companies; the firm's last acquisition was in February, when its Ziff Davis publishing arm acquired videogame publisher IGN. J2 Global bought Ziff Davis in November of last year.
